Welcome to a new industrial sewing class, in today’s class I’m going to teach you how to sew a straight waistband.
In previous classes you already learned how to make the pattern of a straight waistband, today you will learn how to sew it.
In the world of fashion, we can sew the same garments with different qualities, depending on which market it is aimed at.
For that reason, in today’s class, we are going to start by making 3 different samples of the waistband where we will learn different finishes.
Then we will go on to make another sample of how to sew a waistband with a zip/zipper without an extension, you already know that the extension is where we put the buttonhole that helps to hold the waistband.
To finish we will sew a straight waistband with extension, where we will learn another way to finish the waistband.
Remember that you have a class on how to sew different zips/zippers that I explain in great detail.
For today’s class, I have put an invisible zip on all the samples but for the waistband with extension, you could put another type of zip.
In today’s class, I have mentioned the blind stitch that you learned to make in the class on how to sew the hems of garments.
As always, if you have any questions about today’s class, you can send me an email through your user account in the support section.
Submit your exercises
You already know that the best way to learn to sew is by practising, so for today’s class, I’m going to ask you to do the same exercises that I’ve done today.
Make the 3 samples of how to finish the waistband, then make a sample of how to sew a waistband without an extension and another with an extension.
Remember to use a thread that contrasts with your fabric so that it can be seen correctly.
You can use any non-elastic fabric and try to send me photos where your work can be seen clearly.
