How to sew a tailor’s ham

Welcome to a new Sewing Club class. In today’s class, we’re going to sew a tailor’s cushion or the pressing ham.

The tailor’s ham is an essential tool if you sew, as it is the perfect tool for ironing darts and curved seams.

Just below today’s class video, you’ll find the pattern to download and print so we can sew it together.

You will find two different versions, the full-size version and the half-scale version.

For today’s class, we are going to make the actual size, but to make it at half scale, it is exactly the same, the only thing that changes is the seam allowance.

Today’s class begins by showing the tailor’s ham and talking about its wonderful qualities.

Next, we’ll print the pattern, join all the pieces together, and mark the notches and drills.

Finally, we will sew and fill this tailor’s ham.

Class

As you saw in today’s class, I used wood shavings. I recommend using sawdust for a better result.

As I mentioned, you can use fabric scraps to create the same result, but make sure they are heat-resistant, like wool or cotton.

Although, as I told you in this class, I recommend using sawdust since it looks better than using fabric scraps.
