How to shorten trousers with a zip opening

Welcome to a new sewing alterations class, in today’s lesson, I am going to teach you how to shorten trousers with a side seam opening.

In previous classes, we already learned how to shorten trousers in different ways, but today we are going to teach you a more complex way.

For this sewing alteration, we have agreed with the client that we will shorten the zip, so this class is perfect for you to learn this technique.

To make this type of alteration, we will ask the client to try on the trousers with the shoes they want to wear and we will decide the final length with pins.

Once we have the trousers with the pins on, we are going to measure the exact amount that we have to shorten them.

We will remove the pins, unpick the original hem and proceed to make this sewing alteration.
