Welcome to your second class in sewing alterations, today you will learn different techniques to shorten trousers.
The last class taught us how to shorten jeans (in different ways) and today we continue to shorten different types of trousers.
The class begins by shortening fairly wide ladies’ trousers with a flat hem and machine sewing.
Then we will learn how to shorten men’s trousers with a half tape.
And finally, we will see how to shorten men’s trousers with a full tape.
Remember that these classes are taught by Roxana Manzat, a tailor and designer who has been running her own alteration workshop for many years.

As I told you in the previous class, for this type of class I am going to explain what I charged doing these tasks as a tailor in London.
You already know that these prices change according to the country but I find it interesting to talk about money.
To shorten a lady’s trousers the price will depend on the width of the hem. If it has a very wide leg, the client will be charged more than if it is a very narrow leg.
The normal price was between £10 for skinny trousers (very narrow) to about £18 for wide leg trousers (very wide).
The price to shorten suit trousers and add a tape was £15, whether you added half or the full tape.
As always, if you have any questions about today’s class, you can send me an email through your user account in the support section.

You already know that the best way to learn to sew is by practising. So for today’s class, I am going to ask you to do the 3 techniques that you have learned today.
I recommend that you use trousers that you are going to throw away or buy a second-hand pair.
Remember to send me clear photos where you can see the original hem and the new hem you make, as well as some photos of the process.
