Welcome to a pattern making class, in today’s class I’m going to teach you how to make a sleeve with a continuous vertical pleat.
The sleeve that I am going to show you today has a vertical pleat from the bottom of the sleeve, through the head and back to the bottom of the other side of the sleeve.
This sleeve was a classic of industrial pattern making, especially in bridalwear, although nowadays we don’t usually see it in the market very much.
This sleeve has a straight cut if you look at it from the front and is curved if you look at it from the side.
You could decide to cut out the pattern that you will learn today and use different fabrics; one on the inside of the sleeve and one on the outside.
In today’s class, we are going to focus only on the sleeve, since the body does not usually need a transformation, I have only added a facing on the neckline.

The best way to learn industrial pattern making is by practising, that’s why in today’s class I’m going to ask you to make the sleeve that I’ve taught you today.
You already know that you can do this exercise at full size or at half scale
Please, try to send me photos where the pattern and its annotations are clearly visible so that I can send you better feedback.
