Lining: How to make the lining in a dress

Welcome to a new pattern making class, in today’s class, I am going to teach you how to make the lining of a dress.

In previous classes we already saw how to make different types of lining for a skirt, today we will move on to making the lining of a dress.

Today’s class begins by transforming the pattern of the bodices until the hip, where we will modify the length.

Then we will move on to making an effortless panel dress because for today’s class, I want to focus on the theory of the lining.

After making the patterns for the outer fabric of this dress, we will move on to making the patterns for the interior.

For the interior, we are going to clean up the openings with an all-in-one facing and an open lining at the bottom.

We already know from previous classes that the lining patterns have to change length and width to ensure that the lining does not distort the outer fabric.

As always, I am going to give you all the necessary measurements to make the same design that I have made, but remember that the important thing about this class is that you learn the theory of the lining.

Once you understand the theory of lining for a dress you can change all these measurements to personal taste.
