Welcome to this new pattern making class, in today’s class you will learn how to make the romantic dress.
The class begins with a little theory on how to make dress patterns in general.
We will learn the two ways which we can make dresses; with a seam at the waist or without the seam.
We will talk briefly about the different types of hips that exist and that is why I always recommend that you make toile (prototypes).
Leave me a message in the comments if you want me to talk more about body types and how to change the patterns according to them.
Then we will start to make this romantic dress. We will practice some techniques that we already know and then we will move on to new techniques.

For this class you will need to have finished the bodices block to the hip class.
This type of dress is known by different names, from peasant dress or even gypsy dress.
I have always known it for dresses with romantic flair and frills because it reminds me of the dresses of the past.
As I explained to you in today’s class, this dress can be made in a differents ways.
Today I have chosen a less common way so that you can see that we can achieve the same result doing it differently.
We will move the shoulder dart from the back to make it disappear.
We will also see how to make the tiers (strips/panels) at the bottom of the dress and how to modify the darts so that it continues to look good.
Remember that if you have any questions about the class, you can always send me an email through your user account, in the support section.

As always, the best way to learn is by practising. You won’t be able to learn pattern making if you don’t practice.
Today I am going to ask you to send me the pattern of this dress in the way that I have made it.
Remember to send me clear pictures to be able to send you better feedback.
