Welcome to a new pattern making class, in today’s class, I’m going to teach you how to make a top with a cat’s eye opening.
This design creates a rather daring illusion but at the same time I see it as very elegant, creating a perfect opportunity to practice this neckline.
Today’s class begins by modifying the neckline and armhole, making some quite common modifications when we create a sports top.
Then we will go on to make the cat’s eye opening and we will begin to remove all the excess to prevent this design from gapping.
Remember that this class is a continuation of the corrective darts class, so you need to watch that class first in order to keep up.
In that class, you have already learned to make the contour points and corrective darts guide, to be able to remove the excess ease.
In addition, in that same class, you already learned to sew this type of opening.
As always I will give you all the necessary measures but remember that you can change them to your personal tastes or those of your client.
As I have explained to you in class, this design can be sewn in different ways, in the end, we have made an all-in-one facing but I recommend that you start by making single facings for the toile.
Remember that if after watching today’s class you have any questions, you can always send me an email through your account, in the support section.
Send your exercise
The best way to learn industrial pattern making is by practicing, so for today’s class I’m going to ask you to make the patterns for this top.
You can send me these exercises in real size or half scale
Please, try to send me photos where your patterns and annotations are clearly visible so that I can send you better feedback.
