Welcome to this new pattern making class, in today’s class we are going to learn how to make the shirt collar.
The class begins by doing a little recap of previous classes, all related to making a shirt, so I recommend that you see them before doing today’s class.
The first technique that we are going to recap is that of the growing up placket, although I explain how to do it in this class, it is not as detailed as the growing up placket class.
Then we will go on to make the yoke, as with the previous technique, remember that you have a complete class that I explain it in detail.
Once these techniques have been seen, we will go on to make the pattern of the shirt collar. As always, I will give you standard measurements but feel free to modify the measurements to create other designs.

A couple of things that I want you to take into account when you are going to make a shirt, the first of all is the ease.
Remember that depending on the ease in your pattern you may have to add ease to your bodice block to ensure that your placket is not too tight.
Another thing to take into account is the neckline on your bodice block, our block has a fairly closed neckline. Think about whether you like it like this or want to make it bigger for a more casual neckline effect.
In the next class, I am going to teach you how to sew the patterns that we have made today.
As always, if you have any questions about this class, you can send me an email through your user account in the support section.

As I have always told you, the best way to learn pattern making is by doing it yourself. For today’s class I am going to ask you to make at least the shirt collar pattern but you will earn extra points if you make the placket and the yoke.
Please remember to send me photos where the patterns can be seen clearly and flat on the table to be able to give you better feedback.
