Welcome to a new pattern making class, in today’s class, I am going to teach you how to make a sweetheart neckline with a mesh opening.
In previous classes, we already learned how to make a sweetheart neckline but today we are going to make it a little more difficult.
This neckline is common in evening wear and has an “opening” made with a transparent material that creates an illusion of nudity.
The material I will use today is a non-elastic net, very typical for this type of work.
Although it is a non-elastic material due to the way it is woven, it has a natural elasticity that we have to compensate for with our patterns.
Before watching this class it is necessary that you have seen and practiced the corrective darts class so that you can understand what is happening in today’s class.
It is also recommended that you see the classes of strapless necklines so that you understand the boning that we put in these necklines.

As always, I will give you all the necessary measurements to make this design, but remember that it is important to make a prototype to finish adjusting it to your measurements or your client’s measurements.
We can clean this pattern in several different ways, in the end, I have chosen a more corsetry system but you can use facing and linings if you prefer.
Remember that if you have any questions about today’s class, you can always send me an email through your student account, in the support section.
Send your exercises
You already know that the best way to learn is by practising, so for today’s class, I am going to ask you to make the patterns for this neckline.
You can send me the patterns in real size or half scale.
Please try to send me photos where the patterns and their annotations are clearly visible so that I can send you better comments.
