How to make a sleeve with a knot

Welcome to a new pattern making class, in today’s class, I am going to teach you how to make the sleeve with a knot at the hem.

The sleeve with a knot at the hem is also known as a bow sleeve since if we lengthen the ties of this sleeve we are able to do a bow instead of a knot.

The techniques you will learn today can be found very commonly on casual shirts.

Today’s class begins with the sleeve block pattern where we will have to modify the width and length.

Once this is done we will go on to create the ties that will become our knot.

Then we will have to clean the sleeve openings to have a professional product.

We will clear the openings with a facing that grows from within the pattern although you could separate the facing and sew them separately.

As always, I am going to give you all the necessary measurements to make the same sleeve that I made, but remember that you can change it to your personal taste.

For example, you may like a wider tie or you may want it to make it longer to make a bow.

Making a prototype will help you decide the design that you like best.
