Welcome to a new pattern making class, in today’s class, I am going to teach you how to make a skirt with pleats.
This classic skirt is perfect for learning new dart transformations and practising dart transformations that you’ve learned in previous classes.
Today’s class begins by transforming the darts into box pleats, in previous classes we already learned the theory but we are going to review it again.
Thanks to these pleats we are going to create a skirt with an A-Line silhouette, so you can see that we can achieve this same silhouette using different techniques.
We will also add flare to the side seams so that the skirt is more balanced.
For the back pattern, in addition to performing the previous techniques, I will teach you how to move the dart in parallel.

As always, I will give you all the necessary measurements to create this design but remember that you can change it to your personal taste.
Off camera, I added a straight waistband to clean up the waist seam.
In this class, I have moved the back darts to teach you this technique but if you are going to make this skirt you can leave them in the middle of the waist.
That said, if you want me to correct this design you have to move the darts.
Remember that if you have any questions about today’s class, you can always send me an email through your student account, in the support section.
Send your exercises
You already know that the best way to learn industrial pattern making is by practising, so for today’s class I am going to ask you to make the patterns for this skirt.
You can send me these patterns full size or half scale.
Please try to send me photos where the patterns and their annotations can be seen clearly and precisely.
