Welcome to a new pattern making class. In today’s class, I’m going to teach you how to make a skirt with a fake belt.
We call it a fake belt because it is not a functional belt but rather we only have it as a design element as it grows from the side seams.
The size of the belt will change depending on the size of the buckle we want to use.
Today’s class uses the skirt block patterns, where we will first change the length.
I have decided to make a mini skirt but you can make it the length you like best.
Then we will make a dart transformation in the front pattern, we will leave the back very simple.
Once this is done, we will move on to making the patterns for the belt and the loop.
The belt loop is also a decorative element since its normal function is to hold a belt but in this case, the belt is held only at the side seam.
We will end today’s class by cleaning up the waist seam with a facing.

As always, I’m going to give you all the measurements that I used, but you know that you can change them to suit your personal taste.
Remember to walk all the patterns to make sure everything works perfectly and make at least 1 prototype.
If you have any questions about today’s class, you can always send me an email through your student account, in the support section.
Send your exercises
You already know that the best way to learn is by practising, so for today’s class, I’m going to ask you to make the same patterns that I made.
You can make these patterns full size or half scale.
Please try to send me photos where the patterns and their annotations are clearly and accurately visible so that I can give you better feedback.
