Welcome to a new pattern making class, in today’s class, I am going to teach you how to make a skirt with a creative ruffle.
This creative ruffle, also known as creative draping, this pattern piece overlapped by two folds to create this striking effect.
In previous classes I have already taught you 2 different ways to make the opening for the back so that you can walk properly, today I teach you a new way.
Today’s class starts at the back, so we are going to use the patterns blocks of the skirt, where we will add the new vent for the back.
Then we will go on to make the front, where we will industrialize this pattern to make it the perfect base for our ruffle.
To finish this class, we will go on to make this creative ruffle, so to do this pattern, we will make a master pattern that we will have to trace to create this piece.
This ruffle is made up of 3 different pieces that were joined together creating a single piece or in other words, this pattern has 2 fold lines that are folded together to create this effect.
To clean up the waist seam, off camera, I’ve added a straight waistband.
As always, I am going to give you all the necessary measurements to make the same skirt that I have made, but remember that you can change it to suit your personal taste or your client’s taste.
For the creative ruffle, I will also give you all the necessary measurements but as I explain in today’s class, we normally draw these ruffles freehand.
Remember that if you have any questions about today’s class, you can always send me an email through your user account, in the support section.
Send your exercises
You already know that the best way to learn is by practicing, so for today’s class I’m going to ask you to make this skirt.
You already know that you can send me these patterns in real size or half scale.
Please, try to send me photos where the patterns and their annotations are clearly visible so that I can send you better feedback.
