How to make rumba trousers

Welcome to a new pattern making class, in today’s class, I’m going to show you the rumba trousers.

These trousers are also known as dance trousers and are mostly found in dance competitions.

It can also be found in evening wear for special occasions.

These trousers are characterized by having a very tight silhouette at the top of the trousers and a lot of volume at the bottom.

We achieved this volume by adding 3 ruffles with different heights.

Today’s class begins using the block patterns for the trousers, we’ll start with the front.

First of all, I’m going to choose where I want the ruffles to start, we’ll do this on the front and the back.

Next, we will have to decide the final length of the ruffles, this is important because we want to create a symmetrical staircase effect.

I recommend that you watch the circle skirt class before watching this class since we will be using tricks learned in that class.

We will continue with the industrialization of the front and back patterns before making the ruffles.

We will finish today’s class by making the 3 ruffles with the heights we have previously decided.

Off camera, we’ll add a straight waistband to clean up the waist seam.
