How to make a poncho blouse

Welcome to a new pattern making class. In today’s class, I’m going to teach you how to make the patterns for a poncho blouse with a belt.

The poncho blouse is characterized by being a very loose blouse, although we will add a belt to highlight the waist.

Thanks to this belt, we gather these ease at the waist, which will create a very attractive butterfly sleeve.

Today’s class begins with the bodices up to the hip patterns, where we will have to move the dart to convert it into volume.

Next, we will move on to creating the silhouette of this poncho blouse where we will have to decide how much ease we want to add.

The belt will go through the inside of the blouse, so we will have to create an opening. Depending on the fabric, we could put a buttonhole or we will have to create an opening.

This poncho blouse goes over the head so we will have to enlarge the neckline and clean up all the openings with some facings.

To finish off today’s class, we’ll be creating a long belt to create the bow at the back, but you could change it to another type of belt.

As always, I will give you all the necessary measurements to make this design but remember that you can change it to your personal taste.

These measurements should vary depending on the final fabric you are going to use, basically, we have to look at the fall of the fabric.

That is why it is necessary to make a prototype with a fabric similar to the final fabric we are going to use to check that everything is to our liking.
