Welcome to a new pattern making class, in today’s class, I’m going to teach you how to make pleated pants.
Today’s class is a great exercise to continue practising dart manipulations.
First, we are going to learn how to move the dart so that it is closer to the centre front, we do this to be able to divide the waist into 3 equal parts.
We will then move on to transforming this dart into a knife pleat that will help us shape the leg of these pants.
Then we’ll add a classic trousers pleat near the side seam.
This exercise is perfect for you to see the difference between the pleats and to better understand that you can modify them as you like.
Then we will go on to make the back of these trousers, where we will make a very simple design since I want all the attention to be on the front.
In addition, the pattern on the back will help to hold and the front fold will fall more markedly.
Then we will go on to make the opening system that in today’s design, we are going to put a zip on the side.
To finish I have added a straight waistband to finish these trousers, but you can add the finish that you like the most.

As always, I am going to give you all the necessary measurements to make the same sample that I have done, but keep in mind that you can change them as you or your client like.
The pleats that I have chosen to make today are quite large, so keep this in mind when making your prototype.
Remember that if you have any questions about today’s class, you can send me an email through your account, in the support section.

You already know that the best way to learn is by practising, so for today’s class, I’m going to ask you to do the same patterns that I did.
You can make them a real size or half scale.
Please try to make the photos clearly visible so that I can send you better comments.
