How to make a pleated collar

Welcome to a new pattern-making class. In today’s class, I’m going to show you how to create a pleated collar.

The pleated collar is characterised by originating at the centre front and twisting upon itself to create a pleat on each side of the blouse.

Also, the pleat is a continuous pleat that starts from the front, passes through the back neckline, and returns to the front.

We will work this neckline on a semi-loose-fitting bodice, as it has no opening system.

Today’s class begins with the bodice block until the hip pattern, where, first of all, we will decide on the final length of the blouse.

Then we will add ease and lower the armhole to have a looser blouse.

Once the front and back patterns are finished, we will move on to creating the collar pattern.

To create the collar pattern, we need to reduce the volume in the bodice patterns so that the seams at the center front do not become too bulky.

In addition, we need to add ease at the center back so it doesn’t pull at the neck and allows for better movement.

Class

Although I have explained how these patterns are sewn, I would like to know if you would like me to do a class on how to sew them.

So, I need your opinion on whether you want a class on how to sew them, or if you’d prefer I do a different type of class.

Returning to the patterns, it is important to make a prototype before cutting into the final fabric to ensure everything is perfect.
