Welcome to a new pattern making class, in today’s class, I am going to teach you how to make a peplum skirt.
The peplum skirt is an iconic skirt in the fashion world and it is a perfect exercise to practice some techniques that we have already learned.
Many students discover in this class that all the clothes are different elements that we can combine.
Today we are going to combine the pencil skirt class with the cape skirt class.
Today’s class begins by narrowing the bottom of the skirt to make this V-shaped finish.
Since we are narrowing the hem, we are going to need to make an opening in the back that allows us to walk through.
This opening can be done in different ways, today you will learn a new way to do it.
To finish today’s class we will go on to make the upper ruffle with the exact measurements of the waist but you could transform it to make it another design.

Remember that all the measurements that I give you are to make the same sample that you see on the screen, but you can change these measurements as you or your client like best.
At the end and off camera I have decided to add a straight waistband to finish off this skirt.
As always, if you have any questions about today’s class, remember that you can send me an email through your user account, in the support section.
Send your exercises
As you already know, the best way to learn is by practising, so for today’s class, I’m going to ask you to make the patterns for the Puplum skirt.
You can send me these exercises in real size or half scale
Please try to send me photos where the patterns and their annotations can be seen clearly and precisely so that I can send you better comments.
