Welcome to a new pattern making class. In today’s class, I’m going to teach you how to make an off the shoulder neckline.
This neckline does not rest on the shoulders but rests on the upper arms.
This neckline is very common in evening dresses and can be called by different names, such as arm to arm neckline.
For today’s class, we’re going to do two different silhouettes, something that is very common in this neckline.
For the front, we are going to make a sweetheart neckline, and for the back, we will make a boat neckline.
These silhouettes are interchangeable; you can create both styles at the same time or use only one of the styles on the front and back.
Remember that before watching this class, you need to watch the previous classes, specifically the corrective dart class.
You have to see the corrective dart class first so that you understand what ease I’m removing from this design, or you won’t understand this class.

As always, I will give you all the necessary measurements to make this neckline, but remember that you can change them to suit your personal taste.
Therefore, it is necessary that you always make a prototype before cutting this design with the final fabric.
We do this to make sure the pattern is perfect, but it’s also the step to check if we want to change anything in the design.
Remember that if you have any questions, you can always send me an email through your student account in the support section.
Submit your exercises
You already know that the best way to learn is by practicing, so for today’s class, I’m going to ask you to do the same patterns that I did.
You can send me these patterns in actual size or half scale.
Please try to make the photos clear and accurate so I can give you better feedback.
