Welcome to a new pattern making class, in today’s class, I am going to teach you how to make the patterns of an inseam pocket.
The sample that you will see on the screen today is the one that we will make in the sewing class so that you can understand the type of pocket we are making today.
This type of pocket is very common to find in dresses, although it can be found in different types of garments.
The sewing class was inspired to make it into a dress but for this class, we will make it into a skirt.
The reason is that we will do it in a curved seam line which is a little more complicated but I will also explain how to do it in a straight line.
Although for a skirt the most normal thing would be to find a slanted pocket.
Today’s class begins by transforming the pattern of the front and back where we will have to add a facing.
Then we will move on to making the pocket lining patterns, both the one that will be sewn to the front pattern and the one that will be sewn to the back pattern.

This has been the industrial pattern making class of the inseam pocket, you can learn to sew it in the sewing class.
As always, I am going to give you all the necessary measurements to make the same sample that I have made, but remember that you can change them if necessary.
This means that maybe you want a smaller pocket opening or maybe you want a larger pocket bag.
That is why it is important that you make prototypes so that your final design is perfect.
Remember that if you have any questions about today’s class, you can always email me through your student account, in the support section.
Send your exercises
You already know that the best way to learn is by practicing, so for today’s class I am going to ask you to make the same patterns that I have made.
You can send me these patterns in real size or half scale.
Please try to send me photos where the patterns and their annotations are clearly visible so that I can send you better feedback.
