Welcome to this new pattern making class, in today’s class we are going to learn how to make Facings.
A Facing is that pattern that we find inside the garments to “clean” the seam allowances and have a superior finish.
We can find facings in different parts of the pattern, today we are going to start with the facing for the waist in the skirt.
It is also very common to find facings in necklines and armholes, which we will cover in the classes for making the body.
For certain higher level garments we can also find facings on the hem.

I am also going to focus on teaching you different tracing techniques during this class.
Tracing patterns is very common, especially when we start to make more complex patterns, so I want to make sure that you have all the tracing techniques before moving on to more complex patterns.
And finally, after teaching you the theory and how it has to be done, I will teach you a trick to make your facings much faster.
As always if you have any questions you can always send me an email from your personal account in the support section.

For this class, I am going to ask you to make the facing for the skirt block, both the front and the back and to industrialize it.
Remember that industrializing means putting all the seam allowances, grain lines and all the necessary information.
