How to make a deep V backless

Welcome to a new pattern making class, in today’s class, I am going to teach you how to make a deep V backless top.

This class is perfect for continuing to practise corrective darts focusing on the back.

As we saw in the previous class, when we perform corrective darts on the back it is different from when we do it on the front.

Today’s class begins by transforming the front bodices, for this design we are going to enlarge the front neckline to create a very open neckline in the back

Then we will move on to making the back neckline, where we create a very deep V-shaped neckline.

Once we have the neckline designed, we are going to make the corrective darts. These darts will help us adjust the neckline perfectly to the body.

Once we have the neckline perfectly adjusted, it is time to clean our openings. To do this, I am going to clean the neckline using some facings.

Class

Remember that for today’s class we are going to imagine that this design has a sleeve, if you don’t want to put a sleeve on it, simply remove the ease from the armhole and clean the armhole with a facing.

Making prototypes with a fabric similar to your final design is essential, as we will finish ensuring the exact amount to remove in our corrective darts.
