Welcome to a new pattern making class, in today’s class, I am going to teach you how to make baggy trousers.
The baggy trousers are characterized by the fact that they are fairly wide trousers with an elastic band at the waist and hem.
Today’s class begins using the trousers block pattern, where we will begin to transform them to create baggy trousers.
Next, we will add volume to create these gathers, remember that this volume changes depending on the thickness of the fabric.
Once we have the volume we want, I am going to show you how to remove the side seam, we can do this for an aesthetic decision or to save a step when we are going to sew it.
When we design trousers with a lot of volume, we tend to lower the crotch to make the trousers more comfortable to wear.
The classic baggy trousers usually have facings that grow from the pattern but you could easily change it for a elastic waistband.

As always, I am going to give you all the necessary measurements to create these trousers, but remember that you can change them to your personal taste or to your client’s taste.
This class is designed to make baggy trousers with a non-stretch and medium thickness fabric so keep this in mind when making your first prototype.
If you have any questions about today’s class, you can always send me an email through your user account, in the support section.

You already know that the best way to learn industrial pattern making is by practising, so for today’s class I’m going to ask you to make the baggy trousers.
You can send me this exercise in real size or half scale.
Please, try to send me clear photos where the patterns and their annotations can be seen correctly so that I can send you better feedback.
