How to make a wrap trousers

Welcome to a new pattern-making class. In today’s class, I’m going to teach you how to make a pair of wrap trousers without a side seam.

The wrap trousers are characterised by having a piece that overlaps the front, creating this overlapping effect.

In today’s class, we’re going to make a round wrap, but obviously, the shape of the wrap can change, and we could even add other details.

To make it better quality, we’re going to create a clean wrap. This means that the inside of the wrap will also be clean, and the correct side of the fabric will be visible.

Today’s class starts with the pattern for the skirt block. Instead of working with the pattern for the trousers block, we’ll use the pattern for the skirt.

I’m doing this because I want a pair of trousers that are less tight, and we’re going to work them as if they were a skort.

We’ll change the length of the trousers and transform the dart to create more volume at the bottom.

Then we will make the wrap to our personal taste and create copies that we will have to put on both the front and back patterns.

Next, we’ll move on to making the legs of these trousers, where we’ll work with formulas, but you can make them by taking measurements.

We will finish today’s class by industrialising the patterns and creating the facings to clean the waist.

Before cutting the fabric, remember to walk through all the patterns to make sure everything works perfectly.

Once you have the patterns ready, it is important to make a prototype before cutting the final fabric.

You may find in this prototype that you would like the wrap better if it had a different shape.
