Welcome to this new pattern making class, in today’s class we will learn how to make the skirt with godets.
A godet is a piece/pattern used to add volume and flare to a garment, usually a skirt or a dress.
There are different variations of the godets, in today’s class we are going to learn the 2 most classic ones.
The first one we will learn is the classic godet skirt, this pattern is formed with an extra pattern to create the godets.
The second technique that you will learn is the integrated godet (or Gore as it’s known in most countries). We use this form of godet to add volume without using any extra pieces.

In today’s class, we are going to review one of the dart transformations, so I recommend that you look at that class first (although this isn’t necessary).
As in every class, I am going to give you all the measurements that I am using but remember that you can modify them to your liking.
As I explain in the class, godets are often used in dresses and skirts in many ways. A common way is a single godet in the centre back of a skirt to give some ease.
Due to copyright laws, I do not publish designs that are not made by me, but I leave you this link to a Delpozo skirt, where you can see creative godets.
Remember that if you have any questions about this class you can always send me an email through your personal account, in the support section.

The best way to learn pattern making is by doing it yourself, so for today’s class, I am going to ask you to make the pattern that I made in the class.
Make a skirt with classic godets and a skirt with integrated godets (Gore).
So that I am able to send you better feedback, please try to send me clear pictures where the patterns and their annotations can be seen correctly.
