How to make an A-line dress with a halter neckline

Welcome to a new pattern making class. In today’s class, I’m going to teach you how to make an A-line dress with a halter neckline.

For the halter neckline we will also create a teardrop-shaped opening and a fitted mandarin collar.

Today’s class begins by using our block patterns from the bodices to the hip where we will lengthen them to create a dress.

Once we have the dress pattern, we are going to give it volume to create an A-line dress.

We will continue creating the halter neckline, where we will also have to remove the ease so that it looks and fits perfectly.

Remember that you have to watch the corrective dart class before watching this one or you won’t understand what I’m doing.

We will clean up this neckline using some facings but you can finish this seam with a binding tape if you prefer.

Next, we will move on to making a mandarin collar but instead of making the classic version, today we will make a much tighter version.

We will finish today’s class by making the teardrop-shaped opening to create this beautiful effect.

As always, I’m going to give you all the measurements needed to make this design, but keep in mind that you can change it to your personal taste.

When adding volume it is important to take into account the final fabric that we are going to use, since it will depend on the amount of volume we want to add.

That is why it is important to make prototypes with a fabric similar to the final fabric that we are going to use.
