Welcome to a new pattern making class. In today’s class, I’m going to teach you how to make a jumpsuit block.
The jumpsuit is also known as the overall.
This piece of clothing is characterized by the fact that we will join the bodice block with the trousers block, but here we will have to take into account the ease in order to be able to move.
Today’s class begins by tracing the trousers block patterns, where we will first lower the croth line to help us move.
We have to do this so you can bend over in the jumpsuit, we’re adding extra room for movement.
Next, we’ll need to square the waist of the trousers. We’ll need to remove the extra centimetre from the front to help it fit better around the waist.
In the back, we have to remove the extra measurement that accommodates the trousers in the rear.
Next, we will have to trace the patterns of the bodice block where we will also have to square the waist.
We will join all these patterns by adding ease in the side seam to make it look fitted, but in reality, it will have some movement ease.
We’ll finish today’s class by adjusting the darts so that it looks perfect.

Don’t worry if your patterns block doesn’t match mine, as they are modified for my mannequin.
Remember that it is very important to make the prototypes before cutting the final fabric so you can adjust the final ease.
As always, if you have any questions about today’s class, you can always email me through your student account, in the support section.

You already know that the best way to learn is by practicing, so for today’s class I’m going to ask you to make the patterns for the jumpsuit block.
You can make them in real size or half scale.
Please try to send me photographs where the patterns and their notes are clearly and precisely visible so I can give you better feedback.
