Welcome to a new pattern making class, in today’s class I’m going to teach you how to make a strapless neckline.
A strapless neckline is a neckline with fairly straight lines that rests on the bust but is not held on the shoulders or arms.
This strapless neckline is also known as “word of honour neckline” in Spanish speaking countries.
The legend says that this neckline is called “word of honour” because the designer gave her “Word of Honour” to the model that this neckline would stay in place and not fall off.
Before doing today’s class, I recommend that you watch the corrective darts class if you haven’t seen it yet, since this class will assume that you already understand what they are.
Today’s class begins by designing the neckline, where we will have to take into account certain elements such as the bust radius.
You already know that the pattern blocks have ease to be able to move more easily, but when we create this type of neckline we need to remove this ease so that it fits well to the body.

As you will see in today’s class, when you do this type of transformation it is important that you think about its sewing.
Since you are going to need other elements for this design to work, in today’s class I will talk about the most common ones.
Then we will make the facing to clean the necklines and have a clean seam.
As always, if you have any questions about today’s class, you can send me an email through your user account, in the support section.
Submit your exercises
As you already know, the best way to learn is by practising, so for today’s class, I’m going to ask you to make the patterns you did today.
You can make this pattern real size or half scale.
Keep in mind that in order for me to be able to send you better feedback, I need you to send me photos where the patterns and their annotations are seen cleanly and clearly.
