Welcome to a new pattern making class, in today’s class I am going to teach you how to make a handkerchief skirt.
This handkerchief skirt has 8 points but you can change it to 4 points if you want it less “busy” very easily.
This skirt is a perfect exercise to learn how to make a double circle skirt, also this exercise will teach you that it is not necessary to make a circle skirt exclusively at the waist measurement.
Before watching this class I recommend that you see the class on circle skirts so that you understand perfectly what we are doing.
Also today you will learn another way to make the yoke so that when you sew the skirt you have a perfect line.
At the end of the class, I’m going to show you another style and how to change the points of this skirt so that it looks better, to my personal taste, and it’s the one you can see in the cover photo.
This style is reminiscent of the flames of a bonfire and it is quite common to see it in theaters.
Remember that all the measurements that I give you are to make the same sample that I do, but you can change them to your personal taste or to that of your client.
In today’s class, we have not seen how to make the straight waistband that you can see in the sample, since it is something we have already learned, check that class if you do not remember.
As always, if you have any questions about today’s class, remember that you can always send me an email through your personal account, in the support section.
Send your exercises
You already know that the best way to learn is by practising, so for today’s class, I’m going to ask you to make this skirt.
You don’t have to do the waistband pattern, but it’s good practice.
Remember that you can do this exercise at real size or half scale
Please try to send me photos where the patterns and their annotations are clearly visible so that I can send you better comments.
