Welcome to this new class of pattern making. In today’s class we are going to learn more about the manipulations of darts.
In previous classes, we already learned that we could transform the darts into other elements such as pleats or gathers, so I recommend that you watch these classes first.
Today we are going to transform the darts into other darts with creative designs and the important thing is that our new darts have to have the same effect on our clothes as the original darts.
In today’s class, you will also learn to move the eye of the darts, an essential technique, because if we do not move the eye of the darts we can find ourselves with very pointy darts and garments which are quite uncomfortable to wear.

Then we will see how to transform a single dart into 3 straight darts in parallel. In today’s class we will apply this design to the waist but we could perfectly change it to the shoulder.
Then we will go on to make curved parallel darts, also known as French darts.
Next, we will move on to making graduated darts, where we can see 4 darts in the same location that are gradually shrinking.
Then we will do radial darts. This manipulation consists of changing 1 single dart into 3 of different sizes.
To finish today’s class, we are going to make a dart with a side panel. This design creates a very small dart.
As always, if you have any questions about this class you can send me an email through your user account, in the support section.

As I always tell you, the best way to learn pattern making is by practising, so for today’s class I’m going to ask you to make all the designs we’ve made today.
You already know that you can make them at full size or at half scale if it is easier for you.
Please try to send me photos where I can see all the patterns clearly.
