Welcome to this new pattern making class, in today’s class you will learn how to make the bodice block up to the hips and different plackets.
The class begins by modifying our body block to the hips, and then I will teach you two different ways to do it.
For this, you will need to complete the body block class before doing this class.
In one of the ways that I am going to show you today, we are going to use our skirt block, remember that you have to have the ease slack in the waist for it to work.
If not, you can use the hip curve as a reference.
I recommend that you make a toile and check that everything is perfect.

Then we will go on to make a grow up placket, where I will teach you how to make the pattern and how to sew it.
Although when you talk about plackets I am sure you are thinking of a shirt, in the end, the placket is an opening system.
So you can use the techniques that I have taught you today for any other design, for example, a placket in the back, or just let your creativity fly.
I also teach you to make a pattern of a front side panel, where we will see again how to transform the dart into seam allowances.
We will see how to position buttons and at what distances we have to place them.
We will also see how to make a concealed placket, this type of placket is great when we don’t want the buttons to be seen.
If you have any questions about this class, you already know that you can send me your questions from your user account, in the support section.
Submit your exercises
As I always tell you, the best way to learn is by doing the exercises, so for this class, I am going to ask you to do the 3 transformations that we did today.
The first one would be the body block up to the hips, the second would be the grow up placket and the third would be the concealed placket.
Remember to send me clear photos so that I will be able to send you better feedback on your exercises.
