How to make a bias skirt without a zip

Welcome to a new class on building your wardrobe. In today’s class, I’m going to teach you how to make a bias skirt without a zip.

In today’s class, you will learn how to make the pattern and how to sew the bias skirt.

The beauty of this class is that the opening system will not be a zip, but rather we will use the properties of cutting the skirt on the bias to create elasticity in a fabric that is not elastic.

The fabric I’m going to use and the one I recommend is a satin fabric, as it has a characteristic shine that looks spectacular when cut at a 45-degree angle.

Today’s class begins by transforming the skirt block patterns, where we will first choose the final length.

Then we will add volume to create this silhouette and transform the waist to create the opening system.

Once we have the patterns finished we will move on to sewing this skirt.

Remember that when working on the bias, it’s important to balance the hem, just like I taught you in the tent dress class.

To finish today’s class, we’re going to sew the hem with a pin hem. Today I’ll show you a different way to do this classic.

Remember that it is very important that you always make a prototype before cutting the final fabric.

Use a fabric with similar characteristics to your final fabric but much cheaper. For example, if you’re using cotton satin, use polyester satin for the prototype.
